Education & Training

We know what works when it comes to helping people that smoke, quit.

Working with People that Use Tobacco

In 2000, synthesizing the evidence from a review of more than 6,000 research articles, the US Public Health Service published a Clinical Practice Guideline: Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence. This document was updated in 2008. The Update recommends specific elements to increase quit rates among smokers: a system to identify smokers, clinician brief interventions, FDA-approved medications, and behavioral counseling.
